Rain (aka Jung Ji-hoon) has been teasing us for months about a possible drama comeback, and now it has been announced that he’s currently in talks regarding Chuno writer Chun Sung-il’s next project.
On April 5, a senior rep from Rain’s management company revealed that the star is considering several scripts, among them writer Chun’s Runaway [도망자, a working title]. (Side note: With a title like “Runaway,” Chun is probably inviting lots of comparisons to Chuno, even if the drama turns out to be a modern-day piece as he has alluded.) Rain’s rep said, “He is definitely in discussions about taking the role, but it’s too early to say anything for sure right now.” (While cautious responses are common in this scenario, it’s a more positive statement than the usual blanket denials that follow a casting rumor…)
Rain is making his comeback as a singer with the special album “Back to the Basic.” If his plans unfold as announced and Rain makes his television comeback by October of this year (as he posted on his homepage last month), it will be 5 years since his last drama role in 2005’s A Love To Kill.
