Super Junior SiWon underwent operation to remove inflamed salivary gland

Super Junior Choi SiWon underwent a surgery to remove his salivary gland.

Super Junior Lee Teuk revealed during a press conference on 20th May in Seoul KangNam ApGooJung, “SiWon is unable to attend this press conference today due to health issuse. He has received health examination at the hospital and is currently resting at home.”

An official also revealed, “SiWon underwent a surgery on 18th May to remove his inflamed salivary gland. During the filming for SBS drama ‘Oh My Lady’, he has been taken anti-inflammatory medicine for that. But his condition worsened and he has to undergo an operation for it.”

The official added, “He is resting at home on the 19th, and is unable to attend for Super Junior’s activities. Even though it is not major health problem, his face is swollen.”

With that, it is still unclear whether SiWon will be performing with Super Junior for KBS Music Bank on 21st May. The official revealed, “It should not interfere with his activities much, but we will have to check his conditions tomorrow morning to determine.”

Meanwhile, Super Junior is recently back after 1 year and 2 months with their 4th album title song ‘Bona Mana’.

Hyun Bin’s spread in Marie Claire’s June issue

Hyun Bin displays a different, fierce image in his new spread for the June issue of Marie Claire magazine (which is vaguely Jang Dong-gun-esque, isn’t it?).

In the accompanying interview, Hyun Bin talked about his most recent acting project, Late Autumn, which was filmed wholly on location in Seattle with co-star Tang Wei. He said, “I felt some pressure at being in a project that has been remade several times, but in order to express a new side to the character, I went into filming without watching the previous versions.”

Regarding Tang Wei, he said, “Working with her was so enjoyable. When the film was in the early casting stages, I received a lot of attention for working with Tang Wei, but I hope audiences can just watch the movie comfortably.”

Hyun Bin also has fan events planned, and explained, “I received two songs, which I then recorded. I’ll present them at this upcoming fanmeeting. Although I won’t be making a formal singer’s debut, I am planning to release a single album in Japan shortly.”

SISTAR HyoRin and Jang GeunSeok duet’ Magic Drag’ revealed!

As reported earlier, SISTAR HyoRin has recently been chosen to sing a duet song and film a MV together with Jang GeunSeok for Yepp. She was chosen by netizens’ votes during the open audition on Yepp’s official homepage.

The song ‘Magic Drag’ has been released on 19th May. Love it or not?

Rain and Jackie Chan to collaborate for production of ‘Hip Song’ MV

Singer actor Rain will work together with actor Jackie Chan for his ‘Hip Song’ MV.

Known to be close friends, the 2 will produce the MV for ‘Hip Song’ and also making use of the upcoming project movie ‘Karate Kid’ between Will Smith and Jackie Chan. The MV will go in line with the upcoming worldwide screening of ‘Karate Kid’ on 10th June. According to a JTunes Entertainment representative, Jackie Chan had proposed the idea and Rain had accepted and agreed to work together. The MV will be released on 20th May online.

It was known that Jackie Chan had attended Rain’s concert in Hong Kong and presented him with a bouquet of flowers last November. An official revealed, “This is a project with great meaning as it also meant the cross-border friendship between Jackie Chan and Rain.”

Super Junior releases teaser to world cup song ‘Victory Korea’

Popular idol group Super Junior to reveal a World Cup Song to cheer the S.Korean team on for the upcoming World Cup.

Super Junior members Lee Teuk, ShinDong, EunHyuk, YeSung and SungMin will come together for a World Cup song ‘Victory Korea’ and a teaser video to the song has been revealed.

Instead of the usual cheer of ‘대한민국 (DaeHanMinGook)’, they will use the cheer of ‘우리민족(Our Nation/WooRiMinJok)’ in the World Cup cheer song. The song is an electronic dance song with dynamic electric sounds.

According to an official of Irocks Entertainment (아이록스 엔터테인먼트), the company which produced this world cup song, the song will be released as an album together with the official screening of movie ‘Dreams Come True’ on 27th May.

Meanwhile, the full song will be revealed on 20th May online, and will be available offline from early June.

Hyun Bin reteams with Friend director Kwak Kyung-taek

Hyun Bin is going back to work with director Kwak Kyung-taek, with whom he shot last year’s dark drama series Friend, Our Legend. (Kwak also filmed the original movie, Friend, which starred Jang Dong-gun and served as the basis for the drama adaptation.)

Hyun Bin will be the lead in the film Beautiful Us [아름다운 우리], joining Joo Jin-mo, who was cast earlier. (This film will also be Joo’s second time working with Kwak; his first project with him was 2007’s movie A Love.)

Beautiful Us is based on the real-life Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, when a North Korean patrol boat attacked a South Korean boat in 2002. A large-scale project, it boasts a production budget of 15 billion won and will be filmed in 3D. Filming will commence in mid-June.

Hyun Bin hasn’t necessarily been able to replicate the massive popularity he gained after 2005’s My Name Is Kim Sam-soon (follow-up dramas Snow Queen and The World They Live In had disappointing broadcasts, though the dramas themselves were well-made). However, he has been making some interesting choices in recent years and I think he’s positioning himself well for a jump to a more serious acting career with stuff like Friend, the remake of the classic film Late Autumn, and now another big-budget Kwak project.
